Our homes offer protection from the elements, safety from predators, and a nice view from above.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>On the\u00a0flip side, they can wreak\u00a0havoc on our homes and our health and it\u2019s important to recognize the difference between damage from\u00a0Mother Nature and\u00a0damage from pesky critters.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>\u201cSo what?\u201d<\/em> you might be thinking. <em>\u201cThat raccoon family up there is not bothering me.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>However, even if you are an animal lover, it\u2019s not a good idea to let rodents and birds colonize your home.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>While they are usually not heavy or strong enough to break anything, they do have extra sharp claws that will leave hundreds of scratch marks on your roof! They can also damage the soffit and break the shingles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Get a Wild Animal Off Your Roof<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Animals generally find it easier to climb up than to climb down, which is why they might need a helping hand in getting off your property.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The first thing you need to do is try to assess if the animal is injured. If it seems to be in good health, get a long wooden plank or a ladder and prop it against the edge of the roof.
